FOUNDING
Climate Solutions International (CSI) was founded by Dr. Jan Whittington, a leading expert on economics, and environmental effects of infrastructure specializing on decarbonization, resilience, and information security. She brings global professional experience from Bechtel Corporation and more than a decade of work with the World Bank on infrastructure projects, systems, and plans, worldwide.
As an environmental scientist, planner, and infrastructure economist, Jan has led interdisciplinary teams for decades. This approach led her to form a fusion research lab (Urban Infrastructure Lab) at the University of Washington, and to establish the Climate Solutions International. CSI is a woman-owned business she formed with an interdisciplinary group of global experts and researchers who focus on the needs of cities and other subnational government agencies to solve the climate crisis in a sustainable and cost-effective manner, fit for international climate finance.
Company Focus
Climate Solutions International (CSI) is a profit-for-purpose company dedicating a majority of profits to research on the implementation of local climate solutions. For over a decade, the team leading CSI has empowered local governments globally with the tools needed for sustainable and financially prudent climate action.
Forming the company allowed the development of a unique software platform integrating climate action into routine capital planning and budgeting processes for governments, field-tested in hundreds of cities around the world. Our software platform includes tools empowering cities to meet or exceed climate targets, fostering measurable progress, transforming budget and finance processes, and making a carbon-zero resilient future possible for cities and other government organizations.
